If you grew up in the 90s you have to follow 'The 90s Life' on Twitter. Great quotes from retro kids TV shows such as 'The Rugrats' and 'Hey Arnold' and musical blasts from the past with 'Backstreet's back all right!'. Ok, showing my age now, but it got me thinking about my fav 90s things....
Without a doubt my biggest '90s love' was the American TV series, Dawson's Creek (Dawson's Geek if you were a mean anti-fan!). I vividly remember gathering round with my friends on a Sunday to watch it on Channel 4 and screeching with excitement when the trailer for 'coming up next week...' appeared at the end of the show. Sad? Yes, probably, but looking back on my adolescent self I think it's kind of endearing.
I think that show in particular was quite revolutionary for its time and its viewers. It didn't bow down to stereotypical 'blonde, blue eyed' characters and took a different approach to subjects like sex and drugs. A risky move by DC legend, Kevin Williamson, but one that definitely seems to have paid off as Williamson has gone on to have a string of successful shows including my new fav, The Vampire Diaries. Ultimately, it was the characters that people fell for and no doubt most people's favourite was the adorable but dopey, Pacey Witter. His 'will they, won't they' storyline with Joey sums up everything that was amaze about DC and I'm not ashamed to say I still watch re-runs.
Standing the test of time, Dawson's Creek is still as popular as ever with Twitter holding host to a number of 'fan quote' accounts. All of which have a healthy following - I should know, I follow them all!
